Featuring Blxck Cxsper, Jae, Jupiter Gray, Heather Hills, and Lady Londyn, “Splash” marks the beginning of a new wave of Black Trans visibility in mainstream music.
"
the song
It all started with a random vocal sample "Splash" which, one late sleepless night, inspired Trans Trenderz founder Blxck Cxsper to create a beat.
A few days later, the beat ended up in Jæ's inbox and for over half an hour ensued a back and forth of - lets be honest - stupid one liners around the word "Splash".
One by one, the other trans feminine vocalists on the label were invited to collaborate on the song and each recorded their verse in a different space.
Once all the vocals were sent to Blxck Cxsper, the beat underwent some surgeries in order to better fit each vocalist present on it.
And then...
Splash was born.
It was then decided that Splash would be the first single dropping since Trans Trenderz' recent rise to visibility with the Ghostly Beats Project. And what better way to introduce the Trans Trenderz mission than with a wave that size?
"
the music video
Inspired by the movie "Charlie's Angels" and the real life journey Trans Trenderz has been on throughout the summer of 2020, Splash was shot while Jupiter Gray and Lady Londyn were in New York to record their first singles at Studio G Brooklyn. After bonding virtually for months, the trans women of Trans Trenderz were finally meeting face to face.
Splash is our true story just told through the lens of queer imagination and storytelling. Cxsper is remotely guiding all of us from Montreal because we cannot be together. They are trusting us to accomplish this mission. This takeover.
